Paddles

Engage in a more intense version of “Pong" with multiple arenas, special balls and up to 4 players.

“Pong” certainly is one of the most iconic titles from the early days of videogame culture. It’s a minimalistic take on tennis with only a black screen, two white bars and a rectangular “ball”. Yet, with its simplicity, it perfectly embodies the beauty of couch co-op gaming: Just bring a friend and enjoy. Today there’s no lack of “Pong” clones for modern consoles and all kind of other devices. On the first look, “Paddles” seems like one of them, but there’s more to it.

Of course, “Paddles” includes the classic 2-player versus mode. More interesting, however, is party mode, in which up to 4 people compete against each other in alternating arenas. In each mode, you move your paddle along a predefined line—in normal speed or with a short dash—and must fend off incoming balls. If a ball hits the wall behind your paddle, you loose on of three hearts. To win a round, you must be the last paddle standing.

This can be quite challenging, because each arena comes with its own set of obstacles and multiple balls are introduces over time. Not every ball is the same, though, as some of them can pass through walls, are a lot faster or have other abilities. Overall, “Paddles” is a lighthearted couch coo-op game with simple controls and straightforward gameplay.

Why you should play it:

• It’s easy to learn—everyone knows how to play “Pong”.
• More than 20 levels with different layouts and 6 types of balls provide enough variety to keep you playing for a while.

Most couch co-op games require one gamepad per player (DualShock 4, DualSense, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller etc.), but sometimes you can share gamepads (PS5, XBOX Series X/S), use a single Joy Con (Switch) or let at least one person utilize a keyboard (PC). Please note: We can’t guarantee that your specific setup works with “Paddles”.

SharePlay (PSN) allows you to share local multiplayer games with friends over the internet. Only the host needs to own the game. SharePlay requires a paid PSN subscription and is limited to 60 minutes per session and a maximum of 2 players.
